Orange-crowned Warbler
These hardy warblers migrate later than other warblers and are one of the few warblers that do not winter out of the United States. In our area, they typically leave in early October.
Besides foraging for insects in weedy fields, thickets and native red elderberry bushes, they like drinking nectar from plants.
Celata is part of their latin name and means hidden and one rarely sees the hidden orange crown.
